Success of the Gender Responsibilities and Equality in Watersports Conference

The final conference of the GREW project will be held on Saturday November 30 in Nantes. It was decided by the partners to make it a major event. The conference was organized by the Atlantic Water Sports Committee, in charge of WP 5, in close liaison with the CROS Pays de la Loire, Lead Partner, which provided significant support, particularly at the logistical level.

The objective was to raise awareness of the objectives and achievements of the GREW project, but also to enrich reflection on the theme of the feminization of sports governance in water sports, by inviting several speakers renowned for their knowledge of the subject. More than 200 organizations from France, Spain, Portugal, Ireland and the United Kingdom were informed of this initiative and 70 people were able to follow the conference in person The morning allowed participants to listen

  • the results of the GREW project, presented by CASN and the Real Federacion de Salvamento y Socorrismo (RFESS)
  • a conference from Anne Tatu University, an authoritative teacher-researcher on the subject, held at the University of Besançon *
  • a round table bringing together several partners and experts such as the President of the RFESS, the Vice-President of the French Sailing Federation, the presidents of the 3 French CROS chaired by women: Île de France, Bourgogne Franche-Comté and Pays de la Loire
  • a speech by the Vice-Mayor of Viana do Castelo, city elected European sports city of the year 2023, partner of the project

The afternoon was an opportunity to broaden the debate to all sports in the presence of numerous sports representatives from Pays de la Loire and other French regions.

This conference allowed GREW partners and the Atlantic Area water sports network to consider together the continuation of the project and the implementation of new exchanges and cooperation.

The GREW project brought together 4 partners, CROS Pays de la Loire, RFESS, the City of Viana do Castelo and CASN, from 2022 to 2024, with significant support from the European Erasmus Plus program.
