Road to Atlantic Games 2024
The organizers of the Atlantic Games 2024 met on November 8 and 9 on Isla Cristina, in the far west of Andalusia. Notably present were the sports teams from the 5 organizing cities, Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Vila Real de Santo Antonio (Portugal), Ayamonte and Isla Cristina (Spain) and the members of the Atlantic Water Sports Committee.
The 24th Atlantic Nautical Games will take place from July 3 to 7, 2024 in this cross-border maritime region, crossed by the Rio Guadiana The 12 sports offered to young sports teams from Ireland, the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Portugal will be:
- Online kayaking (Alcoutim)
- Rowing - beach sprint and events on the Guadiana (Ayamonte)
- Sports rescue - Surf life saving (Ayamonte)
- Wingfoil (Exhibition events – Ayamonte and Isla Cristina)
- Kite surfing (Exhibition events – Ayamonte and Isla Cristina)
- Windsurf (Exhibition events – Ayamonte and Isla Cristina)
- Sea kayaking (Castro Marim)
- Finswimming (Castro Marim)
- Surfcasting (Castro Marim)
- Stand Up Paddle surfing (Isla Cristina)
- Open water swimming (Vila Real de Santo Antonio)
- Sailing (Vila Real de Santo Antonio)
The Games will end with the spectacular Rio Guadiana Crossing (open water swimming), between Ayamonte and Vila Real, which will be followed by the Closing Ceremony in Vila Real de Santo Antonio. The 5 mayors, united around this project with a strong European dimension, which aims to promote this magnificent cross-border territory, closed the two working days by signing an organizational agreement with the Atlantic Water Sports Committee.
