Atlantic Games 2024 - Meeting with the Mayor of Ayamonte
Francisco Quiroga, President, and François Arbellot, Secretary General of the Atlantic Water Sports Committee met Alberto Fernandez, new mayor of Ayamonte.
During this meeting Alberto Fernandes, who was accompanied by the Deputy Mayor Francisco Cirstobal, the Municipal Sports Councilor Rosana Porto Santana and José Antonio Susino, Director of Sports, confirmed the Municipality's support for the Atlantic Games of the Bajo Guadiana 2024 and its commitment to make these 24th Atlantic Games a great success.
Luis Madeira, Director of the Naval Association of Guadiana, from Vila Real de Santo Antonio, was present to testify to the strong mobilization of the three Portuguese cities. Ayamonte will set up, on its territory, the Office of the Organization of the Atlantic Games which will be in charge of coordinating the preparation and the management of the event alongside the co-organizing cities of Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Isla Cristina and Via Real de Santo Antonio.
The Office will be operational from September 2023. In the longer term, Alberto Fernandez also expressed his desire to develop water sports and strengthen the maritime identity of his city, while promoting a strong nautical dynamic on the cross-border territory of the Bajo Guadiana. Recall that the Atlantic Games 2024 will take place from July 3 to 7, 2024, that almost 400 young athletes from Spain, Portugal, France, Ireland, Great Britain and other European countries will meet in 14 modalities different water sports.
